Path Lighting

Outdoor path lighting can be used to great advantage in both your front yard and the back yard. Here are some examples of the types of path lighting that may be ideal for your home, as well as some ideas of how to use path lights for both safety purposes and to show off your lawn and garden.

Path lights are usually not high-powered items. The concept behind low voltage path lighting is to provide enough light for persons to see where they are going and what is immediately around them. Many people choose to install low voltage path lights from the driveway and up the walkway to the front door for several reasons. The primary reason is so everyone can see where the walkway is located and use it, rather than walking through the grass. Second, the illuminated walkway helps to cut down on the incidence of someone tripping over something and twisting an ankle. Third, it is a great way to showcase the flowers and shrubs that line the walkway, even when it is nighttime. Between the safety factor and the chance to show off your green thumb, using path lights along the front walkway is almost irresistible.

When it comes to your patio and garden areas, nothing is quite as nice as a stroll through the garden at night. By putting in a mission style path and garden light to lead the way, you create a soothing atmosphere that will allow people to enjoy your hard work, even at night. You can enhance the experience by adding a drop or two of Moon Light Path fragrance oil to the lights, which will add another layer of alluring scent to the flowers along the path. The subdued lighting, the path, and the scents will all conspire to make the walk a very pleasant one.

While path lighting is often powered by electricity, there are some excellent solar powered path light kits on the market today. A solar path light is self-contained and can be put in place without any wiring. The small unit has a battery to collect power during the day that can in turn be used at night to illuminate the path. As with all forms of deck path lighting, the solar path lights can be placed anywhere you like and come in several sizes. You will find them easy to use. Also, should one unit fail, it is easily replaced without having to do anything to the rest of your path lighting.
